One of the best Christmas presents I ever received had to be my first cd player. If I can remember clearly I was in the 8th or 9th grade and that had to be way back in 199? something. My mom would always put the Christmas gifts under the tree a few weeks before Christmas and that year I noticed a rather large box with my name on it. So I peeled the box slightly around the edges until I could get an idea of what I had. When I found out I had a cd player I ran to the mall and picked up a first cd. The Cd was Biv 10’s East Coast Family.
See, I was the guy that rode the train to Virgin Megastore during my summer vacation to Dallas and got lost listening to music and reading magazines. An experience like that is hard to replace and impossible to create online. Well, at least in my opinion. I wonder if the record stores would have been more proactive like Barnes and Noble and came out with their version of the IPOD would they still be around. Who knows? Well I’m headed to Los Angeles in a few weeks and at least I get a chance to visit Amoeba Music, one of the few places left were I can recreate the experience I had as a kid.Google+
