The Top 5 R & B Singers to Watch in 2014
We are celebrating the Top R&B artists to look forward to in 2014. Some of these artists may have already made a name for themselves. Some may be arising to fulfill their passions. However, they all have some uniqueness that makes up want to see what more they may have in store for this year. (This list is in no particular order.)
1. Sevyn Streeter
Sevyn Streeter has a combination of eclectic and sultry vocals. With such a great concept to her debut EP “Call Me Crazy, But…” released December 3, 2013. Streeter was in various girls groups before she was signed to Chris Brown’s label CBE.

2. Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae is no newcomer to the industry. She is 28 now and has always pushed the limits to a new approach to R&B. She released her second studio album Electric Lady on September 10, 2013 and was held to critical acclaim. Monae is finally getting recognized for her greatness as an artist. If “Primetime” sets the bar for her videos, I can’t for her new videos to be released as the year goes on.

3. August Alsina
This young Atlanta artist swept the summer charts with his hot single “I Luv This Sh**” featuring Trinidad James. Could Alsina be the new bad-boy R&B newcomer? The hit song was even picked by the likes of Chris Brown and Trey Songz for a smash remix.

4. Jhene Aiko
Jhene Aiko took everyone by storm with her self-released mixtape in 2011, Sailing Soul(s). Ever since then we have waiting for more music from her. Not quite an album, however Aiko released an EP “Sail Out,” on November 12, 2013. I guess this will hold us over until her highly anticipated album rolls around this year.
Here is Jhene’s single “The Worst” from her latest EP
5. SZA
SZA (pronounced See-Za) has put a new and inviting sound into the R&B realm. Mixing soft sultry vocals and inventive lyrics with electronic sounding production delivers a new sound into music industry. Only after being a singer-songwriter for a matter of 2 years, SZA has drawn the attention of Top Dawg Entertainemnt who instantly signed her to his label Top Dawg Entertainment.
