2013 has been a great year for music and entertainment just in general. I’ve been with So So Active for just a short six months and have been doing the Music Chairs videos for just over five months. Since late June there has been some extraordinary news to hit the music industry and others not so extraordinary. This is the year that we were given Yezzus, the death of Cory Monteith, Soulja Boy got kicked out of an airplane, Blurred Lines got sued, and Justin Bieber was caught in one too many different scandals.
There were 72 videos uploaded this year but which ones were the best? Here are the top three biggest stories of the year.
The producers behind Blurred Lines sued the family of Marvin Gaye in our third biggest news piece of 2013. it was a preemptive strike again future lawsuits because the song sounded too familiar or sampled Marvin Gaye’s Got To Give It Up and Funkadelic’s Sexy Ways.
Nirvana entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. Technically, they were announced last year but the official induction doesn’t happen until later this year.
Dave Chappelle made an appearance on Prince’s latest single Breakfast Can Wait. No, he didn’t appear on the song. He was on the cover dressed as Prince in the Charlie Murphy true Hollywood story skit from Chappelle’s Show on Comedy Central.Google+
