Timothy Bloom is a singer/songwriter from North Carolina who has worked with Smokey Robinson and Usher Raymond. I was recently introduced to his music via one of my friends in Los Angeles. He is a very soulful artist in the same vein as D’Angelo and Kem. Currently working super producers Timbaland and Polow da Don he is definitely an artist to watch in 2012.
Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey was recently featured on MTV as one of their artists to watch in 2010 and I had a chance to listen to some of her stuff and I was really impressed. She has a lot of different musical influences from alternative, hip-hop, soul and jazz. They all can all be found in her music. In ‘Off to the Races’ she rhymes “Now I’m off to the races, laces Leather on my waist is,Tight and I am falling down I can see your faces, shameless Cipriani’s basement Love you, but I’m going down.”
The Roc Nation artist cut her chops singing Alicia Keys part on ‘Empire State of mind’ and her version of Miguel’s ‘Quickie’ caught our attention on Youtube this past fall. She released an acoustic video version of her single ‘Thinking About Forever’ with Frankie Ocean and her long awaited EP Every Girl was released in 2012.
