Friday, December 19th was the last and final episode of 106 & Park, the beloved music video countdown show on BET that first aired in 2000. The show featured a music video countdown that viewers got to vote for online, as well as artist and celebrity interviews, new artist debuts, freestyle rap, dance, and singing battles and much more.
After last week’s upset elimination, Sunday Best has to prove it’s making the right calls when it comes to their singers. As Love and Basketball’s end credits rolled, I contemplated who would improve their performances from last week and who would continue to dominate.
The show opened up with a performance from Kim “The Voice” Burrell. She soothed the ears of those watching with her soulful voice and was quite the contrast to Kirk Franklin’s usual loud clothing. ‘Don’t Count Me Out,’ she sang, a strong title that echoes how the remaining four contestants feel; it was also the world premier of that song. Franklin’s clothing has toned down once again this week. He wore a nice white vest with a plaid collard shirt.
