Round One – Team Blake – Casey v. Terry: With the help of Blake and guest mentor Michael Buble, country singer Casey and Irish rocker Terry face off against each other with the song “Carry on Wayward Son” by Kansas. While Casey showed growth and strength, Terry’s pure, controlled voice prevailed. Blake definitely had trouble letting go of such a star. He even tweeted, “How many country fans out there enjoyed @KCMuessigmann‘s performance tonight? He did an awesome job – wasn’t easy letting him go #TheVoice.”
Round Two – Team Adam – Bryan Keith v. Collin Mcloughlin: These young singers battled on the song “Santeria” by Sublime. Coaching from Adam and celebrity mentor, Mary J. Blige, made both artists irresistible. In the end, Adam chose Bryan Keith, but Blake was not about to give up on the chance to steal Collin. So, at the end of this round Blake added another strong contender to his Team.
Round Three – Team Cee-Lo – JR Aquino v. Diego Val: YouTube star JR and Peruvian Diego were pitted against each other on the classic 80’s song “Jessie’s Girl.” Cee-Lo employed Matchbox 20 member Rob Thomas to help him mentor his artists. Even though Diego faltered a lot through rehearsals, he rose to the challenge and was chosen by Cee-Lo.
Round Four – Team Xtina – De’borah v. Nelly’s Echo: After coaching from Christina and guest mentor Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day, the two young, swagtastic artists tested each other on the Police song “Message in a Bottle.” Both artists performed beautifully, but De’borah truly shined and earned herself another round on Team Xtina.
Round Five – Team Blake – 2Steel Girls v. Gracia Harrison: These powerful country ladies really delivered on the Dixie Chicks song, “Sin Wagon.” However, Gracia’s stage presence and charisma caused Blake to choose her.
Round Six – Team Cee-Lo – Amanda Brown v. Trevin Hunte: Blowing the house down with their performance of Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love,” both Amanda and Trevin had all four judges on their feet in complete admiration of the performance. Cee-Lo definitely faced the most difficult decision to have to choose between these two phenomenal artists. All 3 judges were poised and ready to steal away the contestant who Cee-Lo didn’t choose. In the end, Cee-Lo chose to be a part of Trevin’s journey, and Adam snagged Amanda for his team!
Got the Monday blues? Well, shake’em off because The Voice is here with its third week of blind auditions. Adam, Cee-Lo, Christina, and Blake are looking to put the finishing touches on their teams. Here are the talented individuals that the judges deemed potential winners…
Michelle Brooks-Thompson of Massachusetts rocked the stage with her performance of “Proud Mary.” Her stage presence was so mesmerizing that the only thing that drew my eye away from her was her adorable twin daughters. In the end, she surprisingly chose to join Adam’s team.
Next up was Peruvian Diego Val whose sweet voice persuaded Cee-Lo to push that button. After a long battle with a debilitating disease, Diego beat the odds and is now off to prove himself to the world.
Texas music teacher, Suzanna Choffel gave a “heartfelt performance” that landed her on Team Blake.
Joining Team Xtina, unbelievably attractive Dez Duron wooed the audience with his performance of “Sara Smile.” After failing to make it after his audition last year, Dez had three judges vying for his attention. Not only did his voice elicit many compliments but his prince-like appearance had Blake declaring that he was “a hot, hot man.”
Alexis Marceaux who sang “Go Your Own Way” brought her A-game for her family and for her city, New Orleans. She definitely made them all proud with “ a wonderfully impeccable” performance that landed her a place on Team Cee-Lo.
An young singer with an old soul brings back the Motown vibes with his rendition of The Temptations’ “I Wish It Would Rain.” Brandon Mahone crooned his way to a spot on Team Adam.
Childhood Disney star Jordan Pruitt who performed with the likes of Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens sang Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” for her audition. And while, I thought her voice was dull, Christina was wowed enough to turn her chair around and welcome her to the team.
And finally, big personality Terisa Griffin took over the stage with her performance of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” After schooling the judges, Terisa shocked Blake himself when she chose him over Christina! Her sass and smiles even made Cee-Lo tweet, “I love the wonderful women in my life… You ladies just know what you want! #EveryWomanIveDated#TheVoice.” This interesting lady is definitely ready to shake up the competition.
With all the American Idol hubbub going on over its new judges you may have missed some important news about The Voice. It was announced yesterday that NBC’s The Voice will be getting 2 new judges of its own with Shakira taking Xtina’s place and Usher taking over for Cee Lo. Does this mean Christina and Cee Lo are gone for good? Read on to find out….
If you’re a fan of Cee Lo or Christina’s massiveboobs talent you may have already passed out believing that they’re gone for good. Well never fear as it appears the change in judges is just to allow Christina and Cee Lo time to work on other projects. I actually thought this was coming sometime as all the stars on The Voice are very popular and it was only a matter of time before they’d need some time to work on new music of their own. Cee Lo and Xtina will be MIA for next season, but their replacements certainly aren’t shabby fill-ins as Usher and Shakira will definitely be fun to watch on the show.
Cee Lo and Christina will definitely return for The Voice, and one can only assume that Blake Shelton and Adam Levine will swap out with other artists as well sometime in the future. Personally, I think it’s a good move and a great way to keep things fresh as the show goes forward although I think that you can never get enough Cee Lo, and Xtina’s always a pleasure to watch… What do you think are excited to see Usher & Shakira on The Voice in the spring of 2013 or would you rather have more Ce Lo and Xtina?
While you ponder that sit back and enjoy one of my favorite moments from the first three seasons of The Voice… gotta’ love Cee Lo!
The second week of the Voice’s blind auditions brings us a variety of unique vocalists and personalities. See which hot, new talent Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Cee-Lo Green added to their teams.
Kicking of the show was Melanie Martinez, a young girl with a unique personality. Her sweet, acoustic rendition of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” won over the judges and eventually landed her on Team Adam.
Next up was Cupid, the man behind the Cupid Shuffle! His bold decision to sing his own song ended up being his downfall because the song limited his vocal abilities. When Cee-Lo asked him to sing another song, his voice shined with Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.” Don’t worry Cupid, we’ll always love you for bringing us the Shuffle.
A single dad from Austin was next to join the judges after singing Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely.” I wasn’t as impressed as the judges, but he did show great potential.
All-American Tyler Lillestol performed Usher’s “U Got It Bad” but failed to capture Usher’s soul and the judges’ attention.
Sweet Southerner Liz Davis blew me away with her performance of “Here for the Party.” All the judges were vying hard for her attention, but Blake’s gimmick of displaying his ACM Award inevitably won her to his team.
Next to wow the judges was Alaskan YouTube Sensation, J.R. Aquino. His sweet performance of “Just The Way You Are” brought him to Cee-Lo’s Team.
The next aspiring artist had a powerful voice that stunned the audience but failed to get the judges to turn around much to their regret.
Quirky singer Nicholas David won a spot on Team Cee-Lo with his rendition of Ben E. King’s classic song, “Stand By Me.” Even Cee-Lo’s parrot seemed to like him.
Alessandra Guercio, a young singer from New York, sang Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” and landed on Team Adam. This Rachel Berry look-a-like will definitely go far in the competition.
And of course, saving the best for last, was 16 year old Avery Wilson with “the golden voice.” His performance of “Without You” mesmerized the judges and the audience. This charming, talented teenager definitely has the power to win it all!
