“Bringing in them whole thangs, Tupac without a nose ring. Thug Life, one wife got a mistress and a girlfriend” are my favorite lines on the 2Chainz anthem “No Lie.” Those lyrics have been lingering in the back of my mind for the last month or so.
Since starting the site less than a year ago, one of the most popular posts has been a political piece by Bab Adetiba titled “Similarities between 2Chainz and Herman Cain.” With Tupac being one of my favorite emcees of all-time, I’ve been wondering what the hell does 2Chainz think he have in common with 2Pac? Here are a few similarities.
In 1996, the Untouchable Death Row Records released the posthumous Makaveli album which saw Tupac take full assault on the Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Jay-Z and Mobb Deep. Although 2Chaniz is not for beefing with other rappers, Tity Boi did release a mixtape called Trap A Velli 2 which featured the underground classic “Boo” and reintroduced the DTP rapper to the “traps” of the southeast region of the U.S.
Another similarity between 2Chainz and 2Pac is they both have lived in the urban music capital of the of the world; Atlanta, GA. In the early 90’s Tupac relocated his family to Atlanta, GA and his mother Afeni Shakur as well as his rap group “The Outlaws” still call Atlanta, GA home. In addition, the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts is located in the historical city of Stone Mountain, GA.
2Chainz is also actively involved in politics as 2Pac was. As national spokesperson for “Respect My Vote,” 2Chainz has been urging the “Young Americans” to get involved in the political process by casting their votes in the upcoming election. 2Pac, the son of Black Panther Party member Afeni Shakur was active through politics throughout his career and in one of his final interview he spoke about running for the President of the United States on day. What do you think? Would you have voted for Pac?
