Today, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin announced that controversial Punk Rock group Pussy Riot will be released from prison. Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina have been serving a two-year sentence for a punk prayer that mocked Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church. During the press conference which granted 30 environmental activists amnesty, Vladimir Putin announced “I was sorry that they were engaged in such disgraceful behaviour, which in my view was degrading to the dignity of women.”Thank God, for the Bill of Rights and Freedom of Speech! Nadezhda Tolokonnikova began a hunger strike while incarcerated to bring attention to brutal living conditions of the prison camp.
