Outkast’s Coachella Performance Disappointed Some

0 2070

outkastThe time came this past weekend for the reunion we all waited for. Outkast headlined Coachella and it was the first time they performed since 2006. The reunion was the most talked about news piece late last year and was the most anticipated act of 2014 Coachella. Despite being welcomed into open arms late last year, there were some complaints as to the crowd being too stagnate. The complaints about the show have been that the crowd was too lax but those complaints have been minimal. See for yourself.

The entire set at Coachella, lasting roughly around 90 minutes, is available for all to see but why so many complaints? The frequent complaint is that Outkast is not performing at the right venue. Coachella is a festival with artists of different genres and times of performances. Many online users, from both YouTube and Reddit, thought an Outkast reunion was needed but that Coachella wasn’t it. Some said the right place for them to reunite was Atlanta, their place of origin.

I do agree that Outkast’s first performance should have been in Atlanta, Georgia but they need to make a huge statement. Coachella maybe an event held in California but it’s where everything is on display for the world to see. This is a samplers appetizer for what is to come in the future with an impending tour.

As mentioned before, the biggest complaint was the audience was dead. Despite playing some of their biggest songs of their career the audience didn’t seem to be feeling it. Why?

Users blame André 3000’s uninterested stage presence (though it could be attributed to his stage fright) as the cause of the dead crowd. One user likened the crowd to running a marathon; they ran 25 out of 26 miles and Outkast is their coach encouraging them to continue running. For what it’s worth, the Outkast reunion was great, from what I’ve seen on YouTube at least. The best thing to happen for Outkast is that they would need to branch out from Cali and perform all around the country, or world, for their fans. Performing at a festival where the people in the audience are there for other artists is the most ideal setting. Performing in front of devoted and dedicated fans is where you can get pumped crowds and enthusiastic performances.
