Loxxy is a new Afrobeats artist that did very well on Wazobia FM & Cool FM. Wazobia FM is a popular radio station in Lagos, Port-Harcourt (94.1 FM) and Abuja (99.5 FM) playing music from afrobeats artists from all over Africa. His two single’s ‘Finished Me‘, and ‘Rock This Show‘ topped their charts.
Loxxy had a chance to get a taste of the music industry in 2003 when he recorded a song with his father,Tony Lawrence who is a household name in the Port Hartcourt music scene. His talent was obvious from a young age as he began to write, create melodies, sing and rap. His love and passion for the music industry began to grow as he became influenced by the UK music industry. His other musical influences are Kanye West, Duncan Mighty, Ed Sheeran, Cold Play & Joe Budden. He then mixed all of these inspirations into his own style. And taking tips from the legendary Port Harcourt Dancehall artist Duncan Mighty, Loxxy began to create his own unique style and sound.
Last month he began working on his next single, ‘Ms DJ’ an Afrobeats/Pop track featuring British Ghanaian singer Fay Nkrumah, who offered her stunning vocals to the track. He then began shooting the music video shortly after in London’s hot spot: Penthouse Nightclub at Leicester Square. An epic move in his newly born music career as renting out a huge Nightclub like that, is a big deal!
I received an email from his manager who sent me these tracks to take a listen to and I fell in love with them instantly. Afrobeats artists such as Wizkid, D’Banj etc are all stars of the Afrobeat musical scene. So it is of no surprise that many young afrobeats artists from Africa are joining forces and producing great head nodding music.Google+
