Lorde is a fantastic artist who doesn’t rely on her over-sexualized music to remain popular. It’s becoming more and more evident that Lorde, whose real name is Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O’Connor, is the anti-Miley Cyrus, and her fans on Twitter gave her that nickname. She’s out promoting Pure Heroine, her debut album, and she spoke with The Sun about who she wants to work with in the future.
Kanye West was one of the people she expressed that she would love to work with. “[M]eeting people like Kanye West – people who are into what you do and understand about having a vision – I can relate to,” Lorde said. I would love to hear a Lorde/Kanye collaboration, especially after Yeezus. I think both artists can benefit greatly from each other in that way.
“I’d love to work with him or Prince,” she continued. “Meeting Prince would be such an honor.” Lorde, in a way evokes many shades of Prince in his early heyday. Collaborating together would make sense, more so than Kanye West, but they both sound interesting. She also talked about Miley Cyrus and why she doesn’t see herself twerking on stage. “[I]f Miley feels comfortable doing it herself then it’s no one’s business to judge.”
She feels indifferent about the entire Miley controversy. What do youthink, however, of a Lorde/Kanye or Lorde/Prince collaboration? I think they would both work and I would be excited to see it happen. #PrinceLorde
