When someone says “Music” the first thing that comes to mind usually isn’t sheet music. Some people have to read sheet music on a daily basis, and if you’re having problems keeping up you’ll want to check out an Android app called Music Sheet Workout from aTekkie.
Music Sheet Workout has two different modes of play with Practice and Quiz. Practice mode throws up random notes and gives you 7 selections to choose from; there are no time limits and no scores are kept. Quiz Mode on the other hand is a bit tougher as you’re timed, and it doesn’t give you the answer if you get it wrong so you just have to keep guessing. This will kill your time and you’re penalized 3 seconds for ever question you miss. Music Sheet Workout has a few options as well; you can turn on/off treble, bass, and alto along with a few other options. There’s a stats keeping feature, but it says “currently unavailable” when you select it.
I’ve fooled around with trying to play guitar a few times over the years, and reading sheet music wasn’t my strong point. That being said, I can definitely see how Music Sheet Workout could help someone learn the basics and improve their speed. The app hasn’t been updated in awhile, but it works fine with every device I tested it on and it’s free to download. If you’d like to give it a go you can pick up aTekkie’s Music Sheet Workout on Google Play.Google+
