During the month of April, Chicago’s Poetry Foundation has invited the people of the world to read and record a poem and then upload it to Soundcloud. The project has been compared to NPR’s StoryCorps and is a way for people to give an anecdote about their every day life.
The Record-A-Poem event began with a poetry reading open house and a total of 40-50 people’s voices uploaded to Soundcloud. Now, they have approximately 500 poems uploaded and they expect that number to steadily rise.
The instructions are simple. Join Soundcloud and the group and record your poem right away. Name it following this format: “POEM TITLE” by “POET” read by YOU; add author tags and the word “poem” and “poetry.” Then, sit back and wait for your poem to be approved.
So, grab your favorite poems or some of the lyrics you’ve penned and head over to Soundcloud to share your art with the rest of the world.Google+
