Actor James Avery has past away at the age of 65 New Years Eve 2013. He is most prominently known as Uncle Phil from the 1990s television show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. His gravelly voice, gigantic stature, and salt-and-pepper beard were his trademarks. He had a long list of appearances in film and television shows like Grey Anatomy, Raise Your Voice, and That 70’s Show.
Avery passed on Tuesday due to complications he suffered when he underwent an open-heart procedure. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Avery, whom were married for 26 years.
Avery finished shooting a film in September, Wish I Was Here, directed by Zach Braff; the film is set to premier at Sundance later this January.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is definitely not going to get a reunion anytime soon. Everyone seemed onboard for a reunion except for actress Janet Hubert who objectified the idea. She called Will Smith an *sshole. The two were in a dispute since 1993 when she was replaced as Aunt Vivian on the show.
Avery will forever be known as Uncle Phil despite his prominent roles in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more.
