Pharrell Williams is one of the hardest working man in the music industry today and ten years ago that statement was true. Pharrell is known for a lot of things including writing, producing, singing and rapping, as well as being the front man to the band N.E.R.D. The band released three albums so far but the one we’re looking at today released ten years ago. Fly or Die released in 2004 to rave reviews. So whether you’re a fan or not, here are five facts to know about N.E.R.D.’s Fly or Die.
•N.E.R.D. stands for No one Ever Really Dies
•N.E.R.D. consists of members Pharrell, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley.
•All songs that appear on the album are written and composed by Pharrell and other member Chad Hugo. Hugo and Pharrell are the production team The Neptunes
•On the last N.E.R.D. album, In Search of…, Hugo admitted that the band enlisted the help of Spymob to help play instruments. For Fly or Die Hugo learned how to play guitar as production went on. This made the production on the album in-house.
•The single Maybe included help from fellow musicians Lenny Kravitz and Questlove.
The album still holds up today. Matter of fact, if the album was released this year it would become a bigger hit than it would have ten years ago. If they re-released In Search Of…, I think they can release this album to great fanfare.Google+
