This is one of my favorite lines from the classic Jay-Z song ‘Renegade’ feat Eminem. Earlier today, I found an interesting article on Digital Music News about an article that was written in the New York Post by Phil Mushnick.
In the article Phil Mushnick states:
“As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?
Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!”
I just visited the New York Post and it looks like the article has been removed, but I decided to weigh in on the topic because I’m sick and tired of old ass men that have no idea of what Hip-Hop is making generalized statements on the music that I love. Anytime a rapper begins to make money and take their business to another level, here comes an old racist dude dumbing their music down to a few words: ni***, biXX and hoXXs.
I bet this guy Phil Mushnick doesn’t know more than five Jay-Z songs but he’s allowed to make a statement like this in a major publication like the New York Post. Either they are hurting for publicity or this says a lot about their Editor and the culture of the New York media.
Keep in mind the city of New York is known for the notorious Hip-Hop police who build criminal files on ever popular rapper in the music business and following them around all day…
