Promo photos for the new biopic following the story of hip-hop trip TLC have surfaced this past week. Though the biopic isn’t set to air until later this fall, excitement is stirring for story of TLC’s legendary story of their rise to the top.
Drumline‘s director, Charles Stone III, has teamed up with screenwriter, Kate Lanier, to create a look into the personal lives of these 3 groundbreaking women in hip-hop history. With help from TLC’s original members, Chilli and T-Boz, the film plans to recreate some of the group’s most iconic music videos and bring to life the fashion and style of the 90s for an audience in 2013. Chilli has already proclaimed her excitement about the project saying that it’s spooky and that it’s going to be crazy.
In addition to recreating some of TLC’s iconic moments, the biopic will also follow a documentary style. It begins with TLC’s inception in Atlanta to the rise of their influential status and popularity, including the Grammy Awards and the days following the tragic death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
The film will feature Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Keke Palmer as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and Lil’ Mama as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
The biopic does not yet have a release date but is anticipated for fall 2013.Google+
