If you were alive in the ‘90s, then you know Boy Meets World, the hit sitcom about the life of Cory Matthews. I believe there was a collective sigh of content as the show ended in 2000, giving us the ending we all wanted for Cory: for him to have his Topanga. Sure, no one wanted the show to end, but all good things must come to an end, right? Wrong! Slated to premiere in 2014 on the Disney Channel comes Girl Meets World, a spin-off sitcom that follows Riley Matthews, a 7th grader dealing with middle school and the fact that her dad (Cory) is a faculty member. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will be reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga and Rowan Blanchard will be starring as their daughter, Riley.
I would just like to state that if you are over 13 years old and are excited for this television show, feel no shame. I am proud to say that I am looking forward to this somewhat of a revival of Boy Meets World. I cannot wait to see the original cast as well as their offspring. This is a show you need to get your kids hooked on because if it’s anything like it’s predecessor, it is going to be great.
Speaking of spin-offs, there have been rumors that another hit show will be returning to the small screen: Full House. (John Stamos, anyone?) Rumor has it that the show will be centered on DJ and Stephanie and their families. Exciting, isn’t it? Two great shows that you may have grown up on coming back to television! It’s like a dream come true, a chance to relive your childhood. Well don’t get too excited; it’s not true! Unfortunately, it appears as though several people didn’t check their facts before giving us all false hope about a returning season. Perhaps this will prompt the creators to move forward and follow in Boy Meets World’s footsteps with a spin-off, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. Let’s collectively turn up our noses, put our hands on our hips, and say, “HOW RUDE!”Google+
