A few weeks ago, I sat down with local artist Lyric Nicole to discuss her new career in the business. This time around, I sat with Valenza, an up and coming Jazz artist from Central Florida (whom is also the label mate to Lyric) whom is on the cusp of releases his very first album. I had the honor to work with Valenza, real name Troy Harris, on a number of events including a music video and will have the pleasure to be working with him again very soon in the near future. Like a seasoned jazz artist, Valenza has the talent of picking up a jazz saxophone to play whatever comes to mind in an impromptu segment.
It’s Mother’s Day and it’s finally the day that you’re truly happy. Not because it’s a day off for you but because you’re finally happy. You and Mother’s Days don’t mix. There have been countless times where you were hurt on those Sundays in May (not by me, just to be clear). Mother’s Day is supposed to be a day rest and relaxation.
Recently, I’ve been away in production on two music videos for local artists in the Orlando area. Not only was it my first time working semi-professionally, it was my first time directing a music video, let alone two. One of the artists that I directed was Lyric Nicole, a young neo-soul singer with a fantastic voice and beautiful music under the Me 2 Entertainment label. I may be biased in my choice of words but you should check her out yourself. I won’t go into more detail about my times directing since that would be another, much longer piece. After the hecticness of a rushed production, I sat down with Ms. Lyric Nicole about her inspirations and work ethic.
She has the two most irritating songs on the radio right now but they’re catchy as all hell. Meghan Trainor, the voice behind All About That Bass and Lips Are Moving, is taking the world by storm in just a short amount of time. All About That Bass was nominated for a Grammy earlier this year, while it didn’t snatch up any awards – thank God, by the way – Trainor has taken it in stride. I really wouldn’t know but she is in rotation at least twice every hour. Let us dive in and learn ten things about twenty-one-year-old singer Meghan Trainor.
With MTV at the forefront of teaching a whole new generation on how to act socially, the do’s and don’ts of a relationship, and the no-goes of personal hygiene. Yes, Guy Code and Girl Code are not only ‘teaching’ a new generation about everything they ‘need’ to know about becoming a man/woman living the in the 21 century, but both shows are doing it in an entertaining way. I prefer to watch Girl Code; it’s like lifting the veil on the secrets of the opposite sex. It’s not a perfect representation of the new generation of girls into women, but does give a plethora of opinions and statements to entertain young viewers. A new show (online) has caught us here at So So Active by surprise with insight on a group of Americans untapped by most shows on television.
Whenever you hear a great song, you have to turn up the volume to not only hear the words but to also feel the music. That’s universal, not just for hip-hop and R&B. Any song that comes up on the radio, whether I can relate to it or not, that I can feel is worth it’s weight in gold. Our very own Kelland, who owns So So Active, released a new single on iTunes and Google Play.
Rapper Beanie Sigel, notably known for being shot in December of 2014 (and for his rhyming skills, obviously) has been hospitalized once more following a shooting this Thursday morning. News broke this afternoon that rapper Sigel, born Dwight Grant 1974, was taken into Englewood Hospital and Medical Center this morning with what sources close to the rapper are saying is a “doctor appointment.”
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Last year when Kanye West dropped Yeezus, it debuted with mixed reviews including myself whom was so-so on the entire album. I’ve since grown to love the album, every little bit of it and consider it a masterpiece misunderstood by many. However, it seems as though Local Business Comedy thought the very same thing. The managed to recreate the entire album of Yeezus with a Christmas twist. It’s called Kreezus and it’s as awesome as it sounds.
To continue the series of selling, like the YouTube and Facebook pieces I’ve written in weeks past, this time around we’re going to discuss the Dos and Don’ts of YouTube ads; whether it’s setting up an ad campaign on Google or the actual ad itself. YouTube is the behemoth video sharing/social media platform from Google where users can share stories, shows, and cat videos – loads of cat videos. Many businesses, mainly up-and-coming businesses, are utilizing video ads to be seen by millions of users on a daily basis. The best way to spread awareness of your brand is to advertise and advertise hard. Yet, there are [unwritten] rules to advertising on YouTube.
What did Drake and Diddy scuffle over this past weekend? Some early reports claimed Diddy punched Drake over him flirting with girlfriend Cassie at LIV in Miami Beach. The punch landed Drake in the hospital further hurting an old shoulder injury. The details surrounding the punch have come to light and it’s not over a girl, it’s over a song.
