Amy Lee, Lead singer of the rock band Evanescence, recently announced some big changes in her personal and professional life via her Twitter page. In a tweet on March 18th, Amy announced her new solo career saying, “Today, for the first time in 13 years, I am a free and independent artist. I have wanted this for so long and I am so happy. CHEERS!”
Evanescence was founded in 1995 but only started becoming popular with the general public with the album Fallen, giving us singles like “Bring Me To Life” and “My Immortal”. Amy announced in a 2008 interview for Spin.com that she was writing new music, maybe for a solo album. She described the new songs as being inspired by her roots and that the sound was nothing like Evanescence. In October of that year, Lee told The Gauntlet that she was unsure whether or not she was going to begin a solo career and that she really didn’t know what was coming next. After many years of obvious indecisiveness, Amy finally took the leap and officially became a solo artist. But what spawned this sudden change? It could have had something to do with the very big change she announced in her personal life earlier this year.
On January 18th, Amy exploded with happiness announcing, “Ok I can’t keep it a secret anymore-I’ve been working on a very special new project for 2014-A BABY! Josh and I are expecting! I’m so happy!” Yes, that’s right. Amy Lee is soon to be a new rock star mommy. On January 8, 2007, long-time friend and therapist, Josh Hartzler, proposed. They were married soon after on May 6th of that year. Now, after seven years of marriage, they are finally getting ready to welcome their first child into the world. It hasn’t been said whether they are having a girl or a boy, which likely means that they don’t know yet. But I’m sure that once they get the news, her fans will be amongst the first she tells. So Congratulations Amy on your big news, both personal and professional.Google+
