Timothy Mosley, better known as Timbaland, is easily one to the largest and most successful hip-hop and R&B Producers today.  From Jay-Z to LL Cool J to Ludacris, Timbaland has produced some of the biggest stars in the music industry to date.  But what else is there to know about Timbaland?

1. He first began creating hip-hop backing tracks on his Casio keyboard.

2. Before becoming a producer, he was a member of a group called Timbaland and Magoo.

He teamed up with his high-school friend, Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff, and the duo later released three studio albums before joining the V.A. Playaz.

3. He was once the most expensive producer in the industry.

He topped even Dr. Dre at one point charging approximately $275,000 per track.

4. He was shot once while working at a Red Lobster.

He was 15 and the wound left him paralyzed for nearly a year.  As a result, he learned to DJ primarily with his left hand.

5. After the death of Aaliyah, Timbaland took some time off from music.

On her death, Timbaland said, “She was like blood, and I lost blood. Me and her together had this chemistry. I kinda lost half of my creativity to her. It’s hard for me to talk to the fans now. Beyond the music, she was a brilliant person, the [most special] person I ever met.”

6. He has 3 children.

He has two boys, Demetrius and Frankie, and a girl, Reign.

7. He did several blue collar jobs before becoming the producing mogul that he is today.

On top of working at Red Lobster, he also worked at Burger King and Winn Dixie.  Both of those jobs have no reported injuries.

8. He’s rumored to have left two women at the altar.

There is no evidence and he has said nothing on the matter, but the rumor is still floating about.

9. He reportedly rarely sleeps at night.

When he does sleep, it’s typically during daylight hours.

10. His favorite cereal is Frosted Flakes.

It’s not the most exciting breakfast cereals, but at least he knows what he likes.
